little bro reels in his first shark

full moon, and calm flat water went out to sanibel with my family for their first time shark fishing. used a wing of a cownosed ray and dropped it short on my trusty avet and about an hour later hooked about a 6 foot sandbar shark. i reeled it in for awhile to make sure it stayed on the hook then handed it off to my little brother for the hard part when it was in the shallows and pulling good drag.... he had a blast.

My friend gut hooked a lemon like that, released it and caught it again, sharks are beasts lol, but I guess it all depends on how bad it is.

Just an average fisherman.

Nice going!!!!!!! Some Sharks do that as a defense mechanism and will turn their stomachs inside out on purpose. I think it's called disgorging. The stomach goes back in and there back to normal. That Shark likely survived. Nice Sandbar!!!!!

Awesome for your little brother, nice sandbar! As for the stomach thing, I know National Geographic had a $1million dollar guarantee for a video illustrating a tiger shark regurgitating his stomach in the wild to release all the coral they eat for buoyancy. So, I think there is a chance he will live.
