LEMON SHARK 9 FT 3 INCH (4/2008)
Got tired of getting pounded in the surf that's been kicking for the last week.Thankfully i recruited two young local bucks i met at Sebastian inlet who have grown up in that high surf and are natural surfer/shark fisherman types. These two young man remind me of my youth growing up on the piers.Mikey 1 ,and Mikey 2 live less then a mile from Sebastian inlet and fish it every day after school.Mikey 1's father is a park ranger so he has practiclly grown up on that inlet. These two young man are eager to learn and anxious to catch some big sharks so yesterday they rode to our spot with us to observe and learn all they could. The wind was howling and gusting to 25 mph so yesterday was a day that seperated the man from the boys.We got a late start and by the time we sat up on the beach
it was almost sundown so i put the two Mikey's and my son Willi to the test and let them yak out three baits for us before nightfall set in.I figured after the sun went down i would be the one to face that treacherous surf and sacrifice for my team.It was all worth it after yaking out the baits having flipped three times a cold Corona awaited me on the beach. It was'nt long before the action started. My 14/0 with a half a 15lb cuda goes off nice and slow and i'm struggling to put on my gimbal belt and harness and asking for someone to grab the video camera and start recording.I start barking off the orders for everyone to be ready with the gloves, the tail rope the camera, the measuring tape ,etc, etc, etc. The shark felt real heavy but was'nt fighting too hard until it got in the surf,,,thats when it started to come alive and hug the bottom to the point where i thought i had hooked a huge mud ray.I was hoping for a fat bull but instead ended up with another big lemon. We had one more hit by midnight and wiped out(cutoffs etc) by 1 am. Went home tired but
satisfied with our effort. Thanks again to our new shark club members Mikey 1 and Mikey 2 and all our crew.

My old 14/0 pulled out of retirement.

Reading the post made me laugh because I was just accused of "Barking orders" this weekend.
Same exact situation. I was fighting the fish and I had to bark the orders around. (same orders, gloves, rope, camera, tape) I like to think of it as "explain directions assertively" LOL!
