labor day keys trip

so we headed down last Thursday night to hit up some sharkin, and lobsterin, we hit a close channel there in Islamorada and I maxed out on mang snapper really fast.. my buddies also caught a few .. totalying about 20 all together... the sharkin went rough the first few nights... as we got rained out.. we did not know that a couple buddies that we know from Venice were also headin down till we headed to the 7 mile bridge the 2nd night... so were draggin out our cart on 7 mile and I ran into JD Fagan.. stopped and talked to him.. then walked to the end which was open... we did not have fresh bait so all we did was cast old frozen macks and mullet we had.. through the night we kept hearin his 12 or 14/0 rip.. my buddies that were from Venice visited us from time to time tellin us he landed a lemon... and one of them also broke off on a 6 foot bull.. a little later in the night we hear a loud senator run and figured he had another fish.. our buddy kevin runs down saying that he lost a 9 plus foot tiger under the pier and busted his rod off.. so we all went to investigate seeing this huge meat stick busted in half.. at this time i was amped... no more runs for the rest of the night and i figured we should search for more fresh bait.. we headed to the docks the next days and found lots and lots of fresh free skip jack tuna and a few black fin carcuses.. during our days me and the friends I took went lobster diving and came out with around 10 keeped lobster.. (pics below) .. and finally the last night we were there we hooked, landed and successfully released two lemons around 7 foot... also pictured below.. all in all we caught 20 mangs, 10 lobster and two lemons.. as night sharkin was tough with loud thundering and nasty weather..

So like I said the last night we had some fresh skip jack tuna and black fin carcus.. Joe balloons out a whole skipper and I balloon a blackfin carcus.. he hooks up as soon as he pops his balloon off.. my carcus hooks up an hour later... both yielding around 7 footer lemons..
