Well played! I may have done the same thing in the heat of the moment to keep from losing a shark. Although, it's DEFINITELY not the BEST idea...sure would have sucked to have lost the paddle.

nice report man i know a few people that have chased sharks in the kayak. that is a big fat lemon shark.

AMAZING story! however if ever attempting anything like that i would suggest tying off a large setup to the kayak so u dont get pulled out to sea. i use my winch of a 9/0 everol for this duty. Hammer if ur ever up in the tampa area please let me know, id love to fish with you and some of your buddies
