Hammer's early fall time adventures
Although I haven't been capable of fishing with JD lately, he has been finding and tracking down the fish where they hide. This post displays a mixture of spots, fish, people, and scenery in the right combination for your viewing pleasure. Spots In the following pictures range from as far south as the keys and as far north as sebastian and numerous places in between.
As many of you already know, the start of fall means increased gusts, rains, and cold fronts. Each year a huge migration of mullet from the North make a long and daring journey through some of the most dangerous parts of the oceans to curve around Florida and complete the race. Not too far behind the mullet are the medium sized predators that tend to prey on them; ranging from snook, tarpon, jack, redfish, ladyfish, bluefish, small sharks, and much more. Behind the medium predators are the large predators that us shark fishermen pursue for long hours of many days, weeks, months, and years in hopes to catch the fish of our dreams.
JD hasn't put a huge effort into fishing for big sharks yet, he has landed some small bulls and a decent sized jewfish but nothign for the record books. He is much more interested in snook and redfish right now
In his search he found suitable conditions to catch fish:
overcast
rain...bows
changes in pressure
waves
murky, stirred-up water
MOST IMPORTANTLY
bait!
Early run
jd fagans keeper
jd has trouble catching keepers
too big
how the hell did he eat a whole live mullet...
No doubt trout of the year!!!
I think it was 30 inches and next to a 16 incher
Sebastian mullet run #2
over slot
nice fish (20-30lbs)
another one
Sebastian's North Jetty at a glance
that was a slob
Now for the keys, If you haven't ran into jd fagan on one of the keys bridges, you've never fished the keys
time to whip out the new set-up partner
diawa saltist on gator blank from perk's rods
biggest starfish you ever seen!
some shark bait for later.
I get a phone call: Mark!... I got burned in the current at long key. Me: what? JD: yea, I got a 3lb yellowjack on the ultralight ME: haha
Emotions range from the brutal and hardness of the bridges
fagan: I walked this tube lure up and down the bridge for hours looking for cudas and all I got was this measly jack
nice jack and on a tubelure
shark bait
so much bait, what do we do now?
is that a parrotfish picking at the pilings?
a tarpon gulping some air?
must be a manatee?
big jewfish... 250lbs
Just an average fisherman.

GREAT report, Thanks .Mark your writing style continues to improve made easier by top notch fishermen such as the Jd Hammer.Nice range of fish and scenes congratulations to all involved.
