East Coast Bull-8ft 8in
Went from wednesday to saturday over to the east coast for a family reunion and planned to do some shark fishin. After setting out baits wed. night at 11:50pm my 12/0 started screaming. I let it run and set the hook on what feels like a big fish. I didn't have my harness and I was by myself fishing so I planted the rod in the sand and fought the fish. First run was 400yds and then when I got it to the beach it took off for another 200 yd run. After an hour I call up my brother who is sleeping in the condo and tell him I got a big bull and need help. So he ran down and between him, a guy who walked up and his girlfriend and me we dragged the shark on the beach. First thing I noticed is on one side there was a big fresh bite mark behind the dorsal fin on its left side toward the bottom so I knew there was a big hammer or tiger out there and I also knew the shark was going to die even if I released it. I told my brother to gut the bull while I paddle out another bait for the big shark lurking around but it never hit. A few days later that bull fed 30 people a full dinner so none of it went to waste. In fact, everybody thought it was chicken before I revealed what it really was. She was 8' 8" long and had a girth of 4'9" putting the estimated weight at 422lbs. She wasn't even pregnant but if she was she would have been huge. For the next three days and three nights I fished and only would get hits from 11pm to 2am and they were all big sharks. One night I had a shark spooling me until it was about 900yds deep into the braid and the hooks pulled, another tail wacked a smaller 10' leader, and one night two guys from canada and a bunch of good lookin girls who hung out with me on the beach every day after they saw me catch the bull were helping me out so I let them take turns fighting a shark. That shark ended up getting 20' away from the beach and was probly 7' when the hooks pulled. The final shark I lost was what I think a 10-12' nurse. It picked the bait up like a nurse, fought like a nurse, but I could barely budge the thing and it actually pulled drag on me (i've never had a nurse pull drag). It was pulling real slow and I could barely hold onto my rod because it was so heavy. I don't think it was a goliath because Ive never heard of them being caught where i was. It ended up hitting a rockpile or a reef and I lost it. I'll be back over there soon with fresh tackle hopefully and have to get paybacks with the sharks that won the fight for now.

Way to go Trevor .Congratulations on a huge fish. You just tied Colby's 8 ft 8 inch for second place biggest Bull of the year in the SFSC .

heres some more photos. Unfortunately none of the ones I got turned out good and these are the best I got. I kept the left side of the shark out of photos just because how bad it looked. There were so many cuts it looked like it had tiger shark stripes on that side plus a big bite mark.
Nice Bull Man.

I wish I could make it down there for that party but I decided to add in an extra night of shark fishing to try for a big winter tiger here on the west coast. 7 nights starting tonight of nonstop shark fishing from boat and land! This is my last chance for 2010 and I gotta try to go out big.
