Dusky Debunking and Report.

Somewhere I saw a video of a teen reeling in a huge bronze whaler from a beach in Australia. A few days later... I found the kid on facebook by accident when some of my Aussie friends had some hype over a great picture. These kids have some real skill; landing 18 nice sized sharks in one week and becoming local celebrities.

The most recent one from a few days ago.

The biggest one out of the 18

It was measured at 2.9 meters which equates to almost 10ft long.

Now after a lot of discussion with the a few friends from down under and some more research. I would like to show you all just how incredibly different these dusky/bronzies can look from one another and also some that look very similar to bull sharks.

Aaron and Frank's duskys

one pregnant dusky

Now notice this pregnant dusky and check out the next pic

As I know Aaron, he's landed MANY bull sharks and now you can see how similar those two are. I also showed Aaron's catch to my buddies over there and they said there's a good chance they could be bronze whalers.

And now for the beast of the day

Massive pregnant bronzie that put that angler into some troubles just as my shark has brought me in before.

Just an average fisherman.

They look kinda close Mark.
But to me it looks like a Spinner shagged with a Bull and
the dusky came about.

I Guess Anything Is Possible When Shark Fishing, I Never Heard Of A Bronze Whaler Being Caught In Tropical waters Like Ours, But If You Look At The Pics The Bronze Has Big Sauser Eyes Vs The Duskey. Duskeys Look Simular To A Bull /Great White Look .(Bulk); both spieces kinda Like Colder Water. Then Again We Do Have Blue Sharks In The Deeper Areas off Miami Their Just Not As Big As You Would find Up North, But I Have seen Pictures of Them

Dusky and bronze whalers are the same species. Just different names for different areas.

Thanks for the Aussie connection Mark we need more reports from guys down under because there is incredible land based shark fishing that we never see from that part of the world.By the way Aaron's double header dusky's turned out to be Bull sharks as evidenced by the set of jaws that I identified as such with the unmistakable triangular teeth(huge jaws from the larger one).
