DEVIL'S LAIR - Henchmen, Blacktips, Monsters
There was a lot of action at that spot, but it would be better (if we ever go there again) to go on a winder night. Plus we'll be prepared a little better the next time around. But in the end I had fun, and now I will suffer the never ending itch of a million bug bites.
Good job on the camera Chris, Nice pic's.
nice post chris, but we are never going back to that spot ever again. unless you want to bring:
1) the canoe and yak on a wagon
2) a few back rests for the seats, one pole each, some bait, and drinks
3) stay out on the water 1000 yards out for the entire night and drop baits from there
4) there were sharks and rocks, but not worth the 1000 combined bug bites for the people that were there

I got more than 1000 bites on my back let alone the rest of my body, and it wasn't any better out on the water. When I was paddling out some of the bait I got a couple bites on the face more than 100 yards out.
on a west wind night blowing 10 to 15 the beach will be fishable but i like the idea of fishing from the canoe out deep i just got that big boy anchor maybe we could drop anchor and tie off on that bouy. as far as the bites go the day after i was fine, but it was definitely top 5 worse experiences of my life taking back all the gear in the morn through the jungle.

You guys hit the right spot at the right time of the year. The monster sharks are there, it's just too bad that you lost him but i can gurantee you - bugs or no bugs if you endure and fish the primo spots during this time of the year the HUGE BULLS,TIGERS and even HAMMERS will be caught.Congratulations on your valiant efforts with the bugs and to Carl and David for deciding to do the "Rene de Dios south beach style chase" on the kayak,,,,,,,better plan ahead though & figure out what you would do with a 13 foot tiger or hammer yakside.Plan well, practice ,execute but remember safety is your first priority.Congratulations because your fighting spirit is unquestionable. Thanks for sharing with us.

No, we yaked out because we got wrapped up. we werent even close to getting spooled but the fish wasnt budging or moving so we got in the yak went around were the hang up was (prolly 500 yds out) and the hooks slipped off. im guessing it was rocks or reef that the fish brushed us off on. same thing happend to chris but his mono frayed and snapped. we were trying to keep that from happening again. i guess the fish was smarter than us this time.
