Crazy night 7/14/2012
Sat around all day watching the ocean from my computer. It was looking good all day, called a couple of my buddy's up and said lets give it a try. Loaded the truck with our gear, night fall came around, went to our normal spot and the wind was blowing straight out the east about 15-20 mph. I looked at them and said don't worry it's blowing hard due to us being in between 2 big hotels lol. I was keeping hope. Got everything out the truck then my buddy said hold on. He was doubting me, he ran all the way to the ocean and called me and said there is no way in hell, waves picked up big time. So we loaded the truck up, got on I95 to head south, came up to cypress creek it was dead stop traffic. Got a phone call saying get off I95. There was 4 different accidents and 595 is closed at University. So by this time we are pissed but had all this time invested so we weren't turning around. Got to our other spot, where it doesn't matter how the ocean side is. We fish the inlet. We get everything out, park the truck and start our journey. About 15 min walk, here comes a storm out of nowhere. It lasted our whole walk so we are pissed. Friends are talking shit saying this is going to be a blank mission, we should turn back but my mind is set. I'm in it to win it 100%. My lines are getting in the water. We get to the inlet it is rough as hell strong out going tide and huge ass ships coming in and out. No way in hell we are getting anything out. So I said hell with it. Lets try the ocean. We walk another 5 mins, same thing. I said set up, we are going for it. So we set up our gear and here comes a lady and couple of guys telling us if our lights don't get turned off the police will be out here making us turn them off (turtle people). Hate them sorry lol. So the whole time we our using our red lights. I'm pissed. I get in the yak, 3-4 foot waves and I'm going for it. It was hell. Got my lines out then it was a waiting game. Before you know it, got a pick up and it ran a good 50ft then dropped. So at this time I'm thinking my brick is cut off. My main line and bait is going to get washed up within a couple of mins. I put the rod back and said hell with it. As I did that, I got another run and it was on. Set the hook, fought for a good 15 mins and got a lil guy, 4.5ft black. As we got him in, the other pole got hit. Same thing. Small black tip. So all and all I kept the faith, stuck with it and it ended up a good night.
all sharks were released
Wow, you don't eat the blacktip sharks? They are amazing and the best kind to eat. It looks like you caught the perfect size too. Send me a PM or look up videos on youtube for how to prepare them:

Blacktip sharks are not threatened and they are active in nearly every warm water beach on the planet. They can also be bred in captivity (unlike bluefin tuna) so put on your favorite shark eating music and open a bottle of sauvignon blanc because the blacktip fishery stock is live and good!
