Bustin' up the Bulls!
Hammer already scoped out the spots two nights before and managed two bull sharks and left, but our trip started with Hammer taking little Jamesy and picking up JD Fagan, Vinny, and I. We headed up to Sebastian hoping for some intense mullet related action but turned up short with only a few jacks and some missed fish.
Jamesy is learning young.
When the tide got right we packed up and headed towards Fort Pierce; I called my friend Austin and he met us out there after fishing Stuart and managing 2 keeper snook between him and his friend.
31inches
The tide wasn't very favorable for the sharks when we go there, so I pursued bait duty, managing everything but bait, luckily the rest of the crew managed some ladyfish and we had jacks from earlier at sebastian. But I caught 2 new species on my penfishingrod.com baitcaster setup; a mangrove snapper and sailcat on a bucktail.
11inch grover on the bucktail... not what I was expecting
Sail actually fought pretty good on that rod
The moon was just past full and I had a great feeling. After the tide switched and gained a little speed, pushing a lot of run off water out of our area, the river monsters came in on a full fledged assault looking to annihilate anything in their way.
After the first shark was hooked we handed it off to Austin, who has never done bridge-based shark fishing, after a crash course he was working the shark like a natural. Had him run down the bank to grab the rod and I was leader man.
Getting used to the pier style rod.
Almost there.
He's good.
Little clip of Austin gaining line
Not bad for his first bridge shark.
5ft 11in
While beaching the first shark JD asked me if I wanted him to put my rod out.
this video explains the chaos quite well.
Before I could even get back on the bridge my line was ripping off my tiny avet lx and they had no choice but to strike the fish; the rod was handed to me still getting burned and I had to run down to avoid the shark cutting into the boat channel then run back up as it tried to go under on me and put my star rod to the ultimate test with my 80lb mono topshot and the fat bull diving under the bridge. Austin helped beach the second shark too it was fatter than the first one but not as long.
They wouldn't give me a chance to catch my breath.
This one had me worried
My rod wasn't happy, too bad we missed the pic when it dived under the bridge.
I see you
This was my rod's point of view as it was being passed over the railing upside down.
Hefty bully
Grab the bull by the horns
5ft 8in, very well fed.
This was a cool pic.
The third rod to get hit was Vinny's 4/0 loaded with 40lb mono. He got burned to less than a quarter spool and popped off. So we put out the duel again, it didn't take long for it to get hit and we convinced Vinny to give the duel a try, after getting burned pretty good, he turned the shark around and winched it in with skill then with ease as he discovered the backwards cranking power. I beached and leadered the third shark, it was even fatter but the same length as the second one. Got some pics and sent it off like the last two.
Vinny hooked it good.
As you can tell I was still soaking from the last release.
got that bad boy straight up and down, pretty much ready for beaching; or so we thought, It actually got to the beach and took off again
Ridiculous girth on Vinny's bull.
She's off to rip apart some snook.
All of this action happened within an hour or two then we decided the bite was over, checked another bridge for snook and went straight home.
Just an average fisherman.

Sweet report guys Mark thanks for posting it up.Nice to see an old South Beach standout fishermen like Vinny fishing with club members again after soooooo many years.
