Bullbuster/Dirty South Sharkers week report

So this has been a fun week.. ill tell you that. We started out fishing our local spots and within the first couple hours we hooked up into a monster Bull on an AJ head. Bringing him up she measured 8 foot 8 inches and boy was she a fatty. That night our team also caught two blacktips... one caught by me here in Miami and one by Raymundo down in Key West.

We fished the same spot the next night only catching one fish (another blacktip).

We then met up with ray and joe to fish another more remote spot up here in dade county. Heres a pic of the blacktip .

With only one more blacktip under our belt for our local efforts we decided it was time to do some traveling. Me, Ray, Joe, and Eddie headed down to flamingo for what we thought would be a couple day trip and the all we caught was MONSTER MOSQUITOS.

The next night we decided to split our team up to put a real hurtin down. Ray and Joe headed down to the keys landing several lemon sharks which were just undersized while me Alex Casta , Alex Martinez, and Eddie Casta hit up our Hammer spot which holds many small hammers in the month of may . We had no luck with the hammers. but here are a few pics from our hammer spot.

So after fishing the hammer spot up until around 6 pm i head out to get some bait and our team splits once again Eddie and Alex Martinez fish the point loosing two sharks to the sharp rocky bottom, both of which took some real nice runs on the 50 wide.

Alex Casta and I head to one of our favorite spots on the Key and are met by a suspicious looking guy as we unload our stuff. As Alex is kayaking the baits out I see someone coming down the path with what look something weapon like in their hand.. and I'm like o damn.. i put the knife in my pocket and I stay wary. As the guy approaches he puts what he had been holding behind a bush and walks towards me. I greet the guy and while I'm talking I walk around the guy in a circle to where he hid what he hid.... it turns out to be about a three foot 2 by 4 with a bunch of nails sticking out of it. I walk back onto the beach with the 2 by 4 and yell at Alex, who has just returned from kayaking, "look at what I just found so the guy knows I'm on to him". I get up in his face holding the 2 by 4 telling him Ive got my eye on him and that I dont trust him and for him not to make a wrong move... he gives me a bs excuse that he brought the board out because he is scared of raccoons and sits down about 20 feet away from us on the phone with someone.. and all I here is 2 guys on the beach and the adress of where we were at. After about 15 mins he walks down the path.. i call the cops and they pick him up.. but I stay wary taking shifts being awake with alex cuz its seems like the guy had been there scoping us out for a couple of his boys to come out and help him finish the job.

The next morning after having no hits we reel up all the baits and to our suprise find that the 12/0 has a small lemon on it. But it is deff undersize so it doesnt count for points.

We head to pick up Eddie and Alex and their kayak. And then just as we've reeled everything up we see two fins on the top of the water.. and I yell SHARK!... I kayak two baits out standing up cuz its too cold to get wet and we soak them.. but no hits.

That day we head to our stingray spot to get rays for bait. I catch one.. and then snag one and let my neighbor steve fight it. Man that thing was one hell of a southern ray.

Our team then splits up again ... Ray , Joe , and I head to the west coast to meet will and travis and fish.. but its slow... Ray, Joe, Will and I then head up to sebastian.. over there not only is it slow but its FREEZING. (49 degrees).

The next morning we head south and last night we split up again... Ray and Joe hit up Hollywood and lost what was an 8 foot Bull in the wash.. and we hit up our local key spot and Alex Casta lost something reel nice on the 9/0 that pulled the hook.. we'll never know what it was.

Overall its been an amazing week. I love to fish.
