blind pass sandbar sharks
went out to blind pass friday night with couple of my buddies and when we arrived the water was dead flat so i set everything up and my friend kayaked the first bait out as soon as he dropped his bait and got back to shore his 9/0 started screaming when he grabbed his rod and tried to set the hook the shark came off
bout 15 min later his reel goes off again and we finally had one hooked up when we got the shark in we got our pics with it and set it free my reel started screaming and i go to set the hook and the shark comes off when i reeled it in to see if i had my bait left i noticed that when i tried to set the hook the circle hook got hooked into the head of the ray i had on for bait due to the changing tide so i kayaked it back out within 15 min or so i had a run i ran grabbed my pole and set the hook...... i had one onn
this was my first "land based" shark i have ever caught

Nice catch i went out tuesday with my brother and caught a few sandbars too then i put out a whole cownose ray right outside the jetty after about 2 hours the 14 starts dumping line preety steady run i grab the reel point the rod towards him and wait for the circle hook to catch.... circle hook sets fish starts pulling line so f**k ing fast my eyes light up,, my brother and his buddy are like ooommmggg i screamm hammerrr all of a sudden line goes slack i reel fast thinking he might be running towards the beach.. he is i get on top of him all of sudden i realize the fish is literally right on the beach,weird.. tail fin and tall dorsal appear 20yards from the beach only in water maybe 3or 4 feet deep of the fish turns hard and runs strait back out pulls drag for a few seconds and then..... line goes slack i reel in my rig to only see #19 wire all bent up the hook came out i screamm every curse word i knew im going out sat night if u and dylan want to come out
Sorry you lost him! At least you got to see him, if only a little. That's why I don't like circle hooks and piano wire. Give me my j hooks and cable and I'm a happy man. In 50 years of fishing I've had 1/16"- 49 strand bitten through 3 times and early on I lost a lot of sharks due to kinked single strand. To each his own. That's just my opinion.
