We'll yesterday me ad kyle decided to go look for cobia on the boat, we found em but they had lockjaw and didn't want anything to do with the jigs. After we had the boat back on the trailer we realized the blue heron was going to be in soon so we headed over there to see what they caught and ended up getting a bunch of kingfish heads, a 17lb jack, and a bonita carcass and decided to go the beach that night. Original plan was to just cast baits but we brought the 80w and 30w just in case. Got to the beach with chase around 6:30 and while me and kyle were still dragging the kayak we hear chase yell he's hooked up already on a kingfish head he casted out he ended up getting tail cut and we knew it was on. Kyle quickly hooked up and pulled hook since we were putting way to much pressure on the fish trying to get them in very quickly to get another bait out asap. Casting baits slowed down so we had kyle paddle a bait on the 80w and 30w and take a chunk along on one of the spinning rods and just throw it once he got to the bar. Chase hooked up just as kyle threw the bait over and while he was hooked up kyle bows up on a big fish on the 30 which is filled to the bars with 100lb braid, it starts taking off and he throws it in full and this is where we knew it wasn't a tip cause it just kept going after 5min he calls for the harness and is down to half a spool and pulls hook. it ate bonita head on a little baby 10/0 circle. it didn't go out when it ate it came in and then kyle reeled tight then hit him when it started moving away just like a hammer does and there's been a big hammer around eating tips that we've seen at the pier. We would've had a chance on the 80 since ti had a regular rig not one we just threw together in 2 min for tips. Anyway we went back to casting baits and I was first to hook up on the van staal 200 but lost him on the jump when he kinked off the wire. Then our friends colton brandon and austin showed up with more baits and it was mass chaos with doubles and triples til we left I ended up pulling hook on another fish then kyle and I had a double and our fish it the beach at the same time but 100yrds apart so we couldn't get a pic of both of them side by side I have no clue how many fish we actually caught but it was over a dozen and i gotta go threw all the pictures but here's the ones of my fish on the spinning rod.

getting the hook out

thanks guys, next thing shark wise for the staal is gonna be tips on topwater, we did it last year and it was blast but I gotta find cheap wood poppers cause they cracked the plastic ones really quickly, still need to jack a keeper cobe on it too.

yeah there is a monster hammer around anytime the tips migrate that's why we always try to drop a big bait on the 80w we really want to beat chris bishop's 13' 2" from the 008 shorebound since we fish with him so much, it's gonna be a race to see who can get one bigger sooner this year cause we know it's gonna happen but will it be one of us or blackbart. Chirs is on the beach tonight but i had a bunch of homework to do (never take 3 ap classes n highschool if you like to fish, it's a pain in the ass) probably going back out tomorrow, and might have to convince chris to bring out the big guns and some big baits and get that hammer.

I use the lures for stripe bass up north and they have been successful with cuda, BT, and Sailfish in the south and hopefully Tarpon very soon.

Was'nt Chris Licht's shorebound tourney hammer reported at exactly 13 foot?

Chris Licht's 13 foot hammer also in the 2008 SHOREBOUND SHARK TOURNY July12,2008
