Bimini trip w pictures
We sailed to Bimini to fish and dive back in August before the huricanes started blowing through. The first day after clearing we anchored up right in front of the harbour on North Bimini and were hoping to get some big mutton snapper as it was almost a full moon,We set up our chum bag after anchoring up and started catching an assortment of chubs, trigger fish and a few yellow tails mixed in.The action was slow and as we were waiting for the action to get better we ballooned out two shark baits, one on my 12/0 and one on my buddy Shannon's 14/0.I drifted my shark bait out first and had it furthest away from the boat in hopes of any shark coming up our chum line would find it first. My bait was a half of a 20 lb cuda and after 20 minutes the balloon popped and the 12/0 took off.It hit real fast like a hammer and when i set up the shark pulled drag for 30 seconds then i felt it was under 200 lbs and he started coming in with ease it turned out to be a caribean reef shark between 150 to 170 lbs.Overall we had a fun trip but no big tigers or hammers on this trip.We did manage some nice yellow eye snapper and muttons and had a blast in the process. Till next time.
