Bayside lemon and offshore kingfish/dolphin action

My buddy Albert and I fished Friday night from the shoreline of the campground we were at .We debated whether to fish or not because the thunderstorms were threatening all around us and it was almost midnight when i said "what the hell let's go catch some sharks"We quickly loaded up the pickup with all the gear and the 5 fresh bonitas we brought from Miami Beach and headed into the dark night ready for bear. When we arrived at the spot some begginner fisherman were allready there and they started with the 100 questions routine you know the one "are you guys fishing for whales"?NOOOOOO!!!!!Just big sharks!!!Anyway a bunch of our friends from the campground came out to watch us fish and drink some brews.I yakked out three baits and not even an hour had gone by when i hooked a big spinner that jumped less then 75 yards from where we were standing. All the bystanders were awestruck by the aerial acrobatics of the big spinner that made all the commotion but quickly cut me off on a coral head. The rain started hard and thank God i brought a tarp for protection.Everyone left us in the pouring rain and a short while after the rain started i got a solid hit on the 14/0 .I hook the fish and pass the rod to Albert so i can get the flashlight, gloves and measuring tape.We are undermanned for the job of landing the fish in the slippery rocks so i called to someone in the distance to lend us a hand and he comes over and it;s someone I know Hector is a strong dude ,,,,just what the doctor ordered. The lemon turns out to be foul hooked. The three of us quickly got the fish measured it(6 ft 6 inches) and released it.High fives and time to go to sleep.

Fished 3 hours and had three hits ,,,,this spot is hot and we got a late start. This place will produce some big sharks -it's just a matter of time.

The next morning Albert ,Ross Demarzo and I are going out on the openfisherman. We got a late start because we were tired from the night before and after filling the gas tank we headed out to a nearby bouy to catch live baits for offshore .We quickly got a bunch of Amoco jacks and some blue runners in the livewell and headed out .The dolphin were scarce but we managed to get 7 throughout the morning and even when we anchored they kept coming around and we caught some on jigs and cut bait. After fishing one spot for 2 hours we moved and quickly started catching cero mackeral and kingfish on strips and jigs. The yellowtail did not show maybe the full moon was working against us but we caught a bunch of other fish for that nights fish fry.Very nice day on the water despite the fact i was exhausted from the previous day.

fueling up Albert and Ross onboard

catching blue runners for live bait at the red marker

double hookups on the small kingfish
