yahh man i agree i saw an idiot gaff a shark on lonk keys seawall 80 yards from the beach to save the walk. i know it wasnt my buisness,but that shark died at the bottom due to puncture wounds,when the idiot could have walked 80 fukkin yards and released it alive. I couldnt stay quiet i was very disturbed. Thats like the idiots from my home town miami, who i have actually seen with my eyes, fill two huge garbage bags with garbage on bridge,only to toss both bags overboard after!!!! wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats why people hate miami locals so much!!!!

As a mater of fact i do. If you do not intend to kill dont put a HOOK in the water. I release every thing I possibaly can but I harvest some. Shure my heart bleeds a little to watch one flop and die on the beach and out of my team i am the most likley to let one go, even a bigun. But one fish ant no difrent than the other. Every fish in the sea is at risk of being over fished. What about ya bait man! You probaly didnt have to watch your bait die cause ya didnt catch it. Do you fish with a plastic lure? Maybe if ya would put a gig in ya hand and kill a sting ray ya would not have to roll on the pantie hose. The bleeding hearts of the world will see to it that no living creature be made a sport of. Sweeden has just outlawed catch and release fishing. They say if ya ant gona eat it you should not be harrasing the fish and if ya catch 2 fish its time to quit and go home because some fish die after being hooked. I do not agree with any law against recreational fishing unless it is depleating the stocks. If a fish has a price on its head it is dead. If a species is threatned, just take it off the market. Yeah i would like to see every shark fisherman trade his gaf for a tag pole and a tail roap. I also value the right to do as i wish with what i catch. Gaffing a shark and ripping its gills/stomach up, just because your to lazy to walk it and retieve the hook or cut the leader, is Horrible, That is the work of a peanut brain!!!!!!!!!

I agree were a speck of sand compared to long liners, however to kill a bull that would grow to 500lbs and deliver 20 sum puppies into the ocean,just because you wanted a picture yet didnt want to walk should be illegal!!!! Like i said i saw a guy do it at long keys seawall !!! he gaffed a 6ft bull,and 7ft lemon, both in the gills !!! then stomped on them,and released to back in to the water haf dead ,to go die a slow,torturous death.
I told him if you were releasing than why the fukkk would you do that!!!!! why not walk 80 steps and cut leader!!! he replied i dont give a fuk bout no shark!!! and we came inches from blows with each other!!!! And Trust i was hot and anxious with a bottle of hennessee in hand!!!

I always get my sharks in the mouth with the gaff. Im 140 pounds soaking wet walking a thrashing shark 400 plus yards hold a my 14/0 or my 16/0 is pretty hard for me. I would never cut the cable and leave that shark to get rapped up and die. I have no problem killing a shark either. Just because i dont do it the way you guys were taught by other sharkers back in the day to do doesnt mean my way is wrong. I take alot of pride in knowing ive taught my self everything i know about shark fishing and fishing in general. i have killed 2 sharks the whole time i have been shark fishing.

Some folkes like to make a but out of themselves in every instance. Not only do they not give a f--- about the shark they dont care about any thing or any one. I have released alot of sharks without tags because Im in to big a hurry to get it back in the water. The scientist are likley to stab us all in the back so i ant to worried about the tags, i do it if it is convient. Oh yea I didnt mean to call anyone a bleeding heart. Together we stand. AT 130 LBS IT MUST BE Small sharks your attempting to flip,actually you stated 400 lb bulls.From experience no 400 lb bull will survive being gaffed and flipped on a pier than thrown back in,and no 130 lb kid can flip a 400lb bull anyways, atleast not with 3 other gaffs and 6 other people!!!!

Ernie,Willy.Rene,Hammer, All of us have killed sharks in the past,and Some of us still do every once in a blue moon, either for a big cook out, or if its a 600 plus trophy.
However we all are aware and respect sharks, and shark conservation believe it or not.
Saying you dont care about killing sharks is the wrong thing to say on here,and im sure you will here about it shortly.However if thats what you do on your free time,just keep it to yourself and dont bragg about it.

I never said i was gonna flip any shark i was gonna walk it down and release it. And i tryed as hard as i could to revive that 400 pounder that would have been the biggest this year for triple crown and it didnt make it. i revived that 8'10 in boca for 25 minutes and it barely swam off but i got alot more out of seeing it swim away even if it didnt make it i tryed. Im not some punk ass kid with gold teeth or tattoos either. Ive worked hard and fished atleast 3 times a week to become as good as i am now. I didnt mean i dont care about killing sharks what i meant was that im not gonna say something everytime someone kills a shark because its none of my business. im sorry that something i said could have made so many people angry i havent had all the time you guys have had to learn about shark fishing

Its cool. I had no idea that one post would start all this.

The only thing I was posting about was that you cant gaff a protected species like a Dusky, which is what was said to be have been caught. If you think its a Dusky then just walk it down to the beach and release it quickly. If there was Dusky's on the beach I would be the first one out there fishing for them and I would just safetly release them like the law says you have to. As far as killing other sharks, I dont do it, but the law says you can keep one a day and as long as it doesnt go to waste then its your choice. I dont give people any crap for killing a shark within the law, I am simply saying that gaffing a protected species is very illegal.

I've got my own crew (Team Blackbart) and we hold our own, 2 time and defending Shorebound Tourney champs, defending BTC champs, and we have won a bunch of categories in both the last two Hammer Challenge tourney's. Dont confuse me to be a bleading heart hippie, I know all about the hard work and long hours it takes to win tourney's and catch big sharks.
