3rd Grander of the season this morning

I've been on a dry spell lately. Plenty of 300-400 lb Tigers, Nice Hammer and lots of Lemons and 'tips, but this morning we nailed a nice one. She didnt smoke the reel like the other giants have, just a slow heavy run. After she dumped about 350 yards we released the anchor and chased. We saw the fish start rising an hour into the fight from about 40 yards, and by the size of the shadow I said "If thats a hammer we got the state record"....as the big girl got closer my charter went nuts. It was just a giant Tiger, well over 1,000. We tried our best to break her will and get her boatside for some great pictures, but she had a heart of steel. I got her to the surface 3 times for a brief time, and had barely enough time to peg her with the tag stick. She swam off very strong... To my fellow shark fisherman, have a great weekend!

Awesome work Capt Chip!!Those massive tigers can be hell to wire up. I've had big tigers that would fight more at the boat then when first hooked .Many times they are uncontrollable boat-side and require the most patience and skill in that last stage of the fight,,,,,they roll and roll, and slap and dive til your hands feel like raw meat.

Thanks William! Yeah, its tough dealing with the larger ones. Sometimes all you can hope for is that they'll swim to the surface on ther own, cause my charters from Ohio, KY, TN and wherever else sure dont have the guns to battle them for long.

Sorry Scott, no pictures of this one. Took everything I had to hang on to the leader and I only had 2 others on the boat, and they were hanging on with everything they had. I have some good pics in that other post on here, though.
