10 ft 7 inch full moon hammer April 30,2007
We decided to hook up with
my brother and his team (TEAM SHARKMASTERS) this weekend
so we left early Saturday morning had our baits in the water by
2pm,fished that entire afternoon and the thru the night but nothing
was biting.Sunday we decided to try a new spot so tired and miserable
we moved camp.My brother George,my nephew George jr and Matt the other Team Sharkmasters member were hungry for there first shark of the tournament so they came ready for war with about 200 lbs of bait in there cooler.Back when me and my brother were still in high school we'd travel the state in our old jalopi fishng for sharks from any beach, bridge or pier and now George jr seems to have the same obsession to catch sharks. My nephew yakked out more baits this weekend then i care to remember and in the long run all the hard work and perseverence paid off.We ended up with a total of 4 sharks caught Sunday (3 over 5ft) and about 3 more that got away. The biggest was a 10ft 7 inch hammerhead that my nephew hooked and fought for over an hour on the 14/o,,,,,it was great to see that old 14/0 screaming, line peeling off and my young nephew with all his might trying to keep pace with that great fish. What an impressive sight to see that huge dorsal fin come up in the surf and to realize it's a BIG HAMMER,what a magnificent animal.I look forward to fishing more with my brother just like when were
two young kids.Enjoy the pictures, catch a monster, but PLEASE BE SAFE!!!
