Rene de Dios caught this 629 lb,11 foot 11 inch tiger shark on August 29,1997 fishing on my boat "Shark Fever".We were fishing on the ledges of Ocean Cay Bahamas at night and Rene used a live horse eye Jack balloned away from the boat on his Penn 14/0 with a Harnell boat rod.The entire battle which lasted 1 hour 15 minutes with this shark was videotaped,,,,Rene was on a high the whole time.That night Kiki Ferrer,Rene and myself celebrated the victory with a bottle of Bacardi rum and some Cuban cigars.The next morning everyone exhausted from the fighting,chasing and gaffing of the shark had to wake up early on my command because i knew it would be slow going back to Bimini with the shark tied up alongside. It took us 4 hours to drag the big tiger all the way north to Bimini to put her on a scale and get an exact weight.
