Just wanted to get the juices flowing for all those hardcore shark hunters
who wanted a glimpse of what,s been tearing up your gear from the bridges .This hammer although not huge only 531 lbs 12ft 6inch was big enough to have us chase him for one and a half hours .It was 1996 on my boat the "shark fever" it was April and we were fishing beneath the old bahia honda bridge outgoing tide 5am hits a big tuna head on the 14/0 and all hell breaks loose Rene de Dios the lejend is hooked up and screaming for me to cut the anchor rope cause i can't get it off the bottom against the current I can't so i cut the rope and we're off and running after what we knew had to be a big hammer;once you've hooked one you never ever forget there tremendous strength and agility so we chase the shark cuz he,s like a freight train and it,s just me and my buddy and i'm working the throttle the wheel the spot light and the video camera that's sitting atop the console he's hitting crab traps and i'm having to lunge for the transom knife in hand and cut lobster buoys off 4 times in total .Rene keeps barking out the commands i'm fighting to keep the propeller away from the shark we see him and we,re freaking out he,s big and everytime he sees the boat he's off to the races .We end up about 4 miles out but we got him a two man team has done what is considered by many one of the ultimate rushes in sportfishing -to catch a big hammer.

The article as it appeared in the Key Noter magazine.

Pumps up my blood to see such freight trains being caught from the deep. Excellent Post. Thanks.
