Well the day after i caught my big black tip I was fishing in the same spot just west of the pier on the beach... i get a phone call from a buddy saying i need to get to the pier they caught a mako loaded up and heres what was there
it was nearly 9 feet

he said nearly 9', sounds like he went and saw it in person so he had a better look at it then we do looking at an angled shark in a pic. It is a good sized shark for sure and a great accomplishment. I have no reason to doubt his first hand accounting of the size of the shark, hopefully a full report with measurements will surface soon and put it to rest, but until then congrats to all involved in the catch of a nice mako!
