Giant white sharks from land were not uncommon on the other side of the world way back when all the way up until the 70's when whale meat became hard to come by.
Team Rebel Leader Zach Miller did an excellent job reviving the story of the old Shark Club of South Africa, it's an intriguing write up just as any other of Zach's scholarly works. Check it out, these sharks have been landed over 1500lbs from a jetty on casted out baits with a reel with no drag or anti reverse and line equivalent to 80lb test.
