TEAM GETCHA GETCHA SHARKON
We've got booth #153 for the two day event Sat Jan 15th and Sunday Jan 16th .Any club member that wants to come and help or to sell some fishing gear please contact Chris (snookhunter) or contact me directly. We will have a 20 foot by 20 foot booth so we have plenty of room. Let us know if you plan to attend.
This is a great way to buy fishing gear at cut rate prices.Every year I attend different marine Flea Markets and I leave with a stockpile of fishing tackle to last me the entire year.I usually find great deals on shark hooks, shark rods and big Penn Senators, harnesses, wire, crimps, cable, jigs, mono, all sorts of stuff that I can buy at discount prices I buy and let me put it to you this way I take a dolly with a box so i can lug around all the great deals i buy at these flea Makets. The wife usually enjoys it too she buys Nautical crafts to decorate the house or nautical style beachwear ,hats, sunglasses, you name it it's there.
We will have shark club albums, memoribilia12/0's ,14/0's,16/0s and other big game tackle on display and on sale .Past Big Hammer Challenge tournament literature and 2011 BHC applications.
We will be selling raffle tickets for a Penn 12/0 with 7 foot shark rod combination and possibly a Shimano Tiagra w boat rod combo. Be there or be square.Thank you.

Tonight we will meet to discuss the flea market event and other important shark club matters .We will have spot #153 which is front of the entrance halfway down from the end on the left side.We might have Tony Medina next to us selling marine hardware from his old marine repair shop "High Voltage Marine".This will be a very exciting event for us ,a big chance to reach out to the community and put a positive word in for lbsf .Tonight at the club meeting we will have the materials to build a big shark rod rack .Hoogan (Art)may also join us at the event this weekend and the SFSC contingency keeps growing so let us know if you plan on attending.Hope to see you all there.

I can't say enough about this event and how well it went. This was our first Marine flea market where we had a booth and it was a great oppurtunity to connect with the south Florida fishing/marine community ,and it's fishermen,a great chance to represent our sport and at the same time generate some funds for the club.I'm so grateful to those folks who attended and were part of our united effort. Thanks to my wife Maggy, Chris (snookhunter),Art(Hoogan),Ray(clack, clack, clack),Joe Clausell,Tony(seawolf) and Isabel Medina without your inspiration and confidence this project would of never been possible and without your helping hands i could not of done it.I'm proud of you guys you all did a terrific job. Thanks to Ar(hoogan) for taking us in and offering to let us stay at your place in Sebastian,,,,,,very nice southern hospitality. Nice to have finally met Keith Riley "Big Bait" and now new SFSC member. This was a success on multiple fields -we made new members ,we connected with old friends who thought we had dropped off the face of the earth,we were blessed with gracious friendly passerbys who had nothing but good words for us and encouragement to continue on our path of reaching out to others.
We met some old school shark fishermen who used to shark fish from Dania and Deerfield piers.Captain Howard Lane still fishes the Florida keys bridges occasionally and he was the Captain/owner of the Florida Fishfinder drift boat out of Key West for many years and has many old land-based shark fishing pictures to share with us.Howard fished with the likes of Lee Caman and some others big time shark fisherman of that era.I also Met Kevin Fraser who fished for sharks during the 1970's on the Deeerfield pier with the likes of Steve Kantner writer of the now defunct "Florida Fishing Weekly",Danny Parmenter ,brothers Scott ,Kenny and Butch Wagner, and Capt Tim Drummond who is now a Backcountry guide in the Tampa area. All there stories of having to sneak out the big reels on the pier because they were banned anything bigger then a 4/0 sounded so very familiar to me we lived through the same things fishing the piers further south on both the east and west coast of Florida.Connecting with the old school shark fishermen ,conversing with them made my expierience completely worth the effort.
Met with Captain Mark Plate who is now a fishing guide mostly in the Indian River and used to fish the Lake Worth area in the 1970's also.Captain Mark knows Steve Sparks and Mike Simonds both whom were with Robert Mosler when he caught the 1007 lb hammerhead at long key bridge back in the 1960's .He was a member of the Lake Worth Shark Fishing Association in the 70's when Mike Potrekus was the president.Like most shark fishermen who fish Palm Beach any length of time they had some very impressive catches from the beaches during those years including hammers in excess of 13 feet and Jewfish of over 450 lbs.He fished the Lake Worth Jaycees shark tournament and did well most years.
Reaching out means welcoming old friends and even one time adversaries -all in a good Cristian spirit of love ;two I was glad to see talking again was Mike Palmer and Pete Barrett.I got a chance to talk to Mike Palmer (Team Oldskool) for quite a while and even had a chance to shake hands with Pete Barrett from boatless .Saw Steve di Palma and he's young and stubborn but we got love for him also regardless of old wounds he wants to keep open.We love ya Steve,,,,,,,, lighten up buddy.
our display was quite the talk of the town

Ray of course the "talkative one" displays the big guns to an interested female senior citizen

On the second night Art(hoogan)took us to one of the best pizza places in town and of course the young ones are clowning around as usual

looked like a great time.
The club had a warm welcome from the local community and I think some "Sharkers" from years past are going home and polishing up their 16/0. I also learned a lot about "CUBAN GROUPER" (LOL).

Looks like a great opp to show what were all about . Steve kanter is an old partner of mine and has many stories to tell about deerfild pier and mike simons I fished with at lake worth pier in 1963 I was thirteen years old. He did not know me put he had a partner he fished with and I was like sponge sucking it all in. They would fish 6:0 reels and harnell rods and would snag manta ray and hook big hammers. It is still in my memorys like it was yesterday.
Looks like it was a great time
