Just released a monster hammer with my friend Peter and Peter along with Tyler Parker (no1sharker). We didn't measure him, but the fish was way over 13ft, much closer to 14ft. The head was over 40 inches wide and the mouth could fit a 5-6ft blacktip in it!

The shark took close to or more than 1000yds of line on the Tiagra 130 with the drag lever above strike (60-70lbs of drag). When we got the shark close to the jetty, we were just trying to release her. People were just taking photos of us trying to remove the hook and release the shark. We never tried to get a photo with the shark. It was more important for us to see this shark live than to get a good photo. I apologize for the poor photos and video.

Giant dorsal fin.

The head was massive, 40+ inches wide.

This fish had a massive mouth! It was wider than our bolt cutters (minimum 20 inches).

Nice shark, I know what it's like to hook a giant on a jetty; great work.

Just an average fisherman.

Wow!!-I am flabergasted after seeing the videos and the pics .To see a Tiagra 130 with 200 lb braid being smoked that way , only a few types of fish on the planet can pull that much drag for an extended period of time and the giant hammers can.Now that Ive seen the pictures I can tell that this was a really huge fish .The second from last picture shows the width of the head and it is massive, and for size comparison I want you too see the width of the existing World Record Hammer 1280 lbs and 14 ft 6 inch caught by Bucky Dennis in 2006 . Ive posted the picture down below.I believe by estimating the measurement the guys holding the Bucky Dennis Hammer forearm compared to the width of the sharks head I come up witha width of about 44 inches give or take an inch and Peters Hammer is just slightly smaller. This was a spectacular catch ,again congratulations on a lifetime catch to the entire team because those that know ,,,know how very difficult it is to catch such a monster and from a jetty twice as hard,,the heavens were watching down upon you on this night..

The Bucky Dennis 14 ft 6 inch World Record

This Hammer below was fought for close to two hours and caught stand up style with a harness and gimbal and only someone who is really fit very strong could of accomplished this on a slippery jetty.Peter the fishermen below on the right in the picture below wearing the white shirt and muscles bulging through was the right person to fight this fish which at times was being fought on 90 pounds of drag.

The head was massive, 40+ inches wide.

thats so awesome, you guys had a great night being able to land that monster. hooking them is very difficult, landing them takes a large amount of skill and time spent preparing for that one moment. congrats!!!

awesome catch! I've been on those rocks when the waves are crashing in from the north and it is nuts. Great job overcoming the odds landing that fish and a good release!

Oh and I forgot to mention that Tyler Parker (no1sharker) put a tag in the big lady hammer right before releasing her and on the last attempt in very difficult circumstances. These guys risked life and limb to make what I would consider to be a Jetty World Record for the Hammerhead species. Way to go guys.
