Yes I finally got one lol like last week. I need a rod for it though. Thinking about getting the biggest ocean master surf rod. 12' 20-50lb and I think 6-12oz. Anybody have opinions on a rod? The reel is huge lol
I have this reel on a Penn Torque, 12' 6-10oz. I forget what the line rating is but I do recall it reads blah blah mono and 65lb braid. This is a solid combo.
I have two ocean master surf rods, the 40lb rated 10' (4-8oz) and a 3-6oz 12'. I have not landed anything big on the ocean masters but they cast great. I spoke with an older gentleman that works at BassPro in Dania and he helped design and test the rods. He says The heavier rods really need the heavy weight to cast far. If it says 4-8, use no less than 6oz lead.
I got 94" lemon on the Penn torque in the BHC and I was very satisfied with the rod and reel. Sweet Sweet drag
i have the same reel spooled with 700 yards of 50 lb powerpro. its a huge reel lol. i built a MHX 9'10 20-40 med power surf rod for it. i take it to sharkeys pier and can cast it super far. sadly i have only caught a catfish with it so far
