im getting 50 lb braid for a spinning reel but i was considering buying the 1500 yard spool and put the rest on my 6/0. how much do you think i could fit on and does anybody fish braid on their 6/0 and do they like it...right now i have 50 lb mono on it
i have 65 on my 6/0 love it i can cast it as far as my 4/0 and i have over a thousand yards

I would think a small top shot would fit... But honestly I would put 500 yards of 100 lb braid and then run either 80 lb mono or 100 lb mono. if you wind up with about 700 yards of line that will be plenty.if a fish takes you down 700 yards on a 6/0 chances are your drag is wasted.
a standard 6/0 holds 475-500 yards of 50 lb mono 100 lb braid is the size of 20 lb mono. 500 yards of 100 lb braid will put you around half a spool.
I think for a 6/0 this would be the best way to go.you can lock the drag and still be way under the 33 % mark for the breaking strength.
i'm looking for a 6/0 if i come up with one this what i will do.
