[Sticky] Land Based Shark Fishing History-2 MAKOS in ONE night
Neville Rowland and myself (WIll Smith) make land based history with TWO makos within 8 hours. We fish hard almost every weekend and even into the week often. In the past few months we have put over 750 hours on the beach hoping to catch the monster of the abyss. After dropping my Everol 14/0 on a DEEP 800 yard drop with ease, I sat and waited with other fisherman and Neville all day long. We managed one sand bar shark during the day and when the sun set, the Everol starts screaming...I grabbed the rod and she let go, so I set the rod back down and about 5 minutes later she came back and hit it for a second time. I was confident this time and yet again she dropped the bait. I knew I still had my AJ on their so I waited for a few moments and BAM..the Everol starts ripping and I hit the running man on her and 45 minutes later I landed the fish of a lifetime...10' Mako Shark. Once I seen her next to the beach, she spit the hook right in front of me. My heart sank as I ran and plunged into the water to grabbed her tail as hard as I could while she was swimming freely and pulled her back up to the beach. After Earnie Polk came to help manage the 526lb mako with 10 other men helping, we take it back to process it. Sure enough, Neville Rowland send me a text at 4:00 Am saying "I caught a Mako"...once he arrives, their lies a 9'7 male Mako shark. The two were together, the 10' female and 9'7 male.

All of the meat was distributed to the people who helped and others. And The Jaws represent the dedication every day we have a bait out.
Amazing job what a fish, two beasts like that is unheard of and the only way for things like this to happen is to be dedicated!
Awesome catches!
That is awesome! 2 Makos in the same day will be hard to beat!

Epic isn't even close to what that would be!
Monumetal catch you guys.
That's is going to be some good eating!
How do they fight from shore?
Offshore they are in the top 5 hardest fishing fish.
It's a carcaradon carcharias. It's a great white shark.
Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him.
I'm not talkin' 'bout pleasure boatin' or day sailin'. I'm talkin' 'bout workin' for a livin'. I'm talkin' 'bout sharkin'!

The winter months are some of the hardest to fish with relentless surf, sporadic weather, and endless, fish-less nights. And, the few beasts that do roam are usually a struggle to catch and often something goes wrong.
Only the best fishermen subdue the winter beasts and there is no exception to the rule.
The fact that these fish were both caught around the same time and in the same area and the growing number of recent catches is a good sign and makes one wonder how these fish migrate and how big of a school they can be in. It may have only been a mating pair but I would suggest putting in your hardest hours around this time as sharks tend to stick together.
Great catches and good timing for such a long drop. The water depth may have a lot to do with the likeliness of catching a mako but don't forget that they have no problem cruising by the pier.
Just an average fisherman.
Congratulations Will and Neville!! Unbelievable! It's been a pleasure fishin with Will for the last year. Will is a dedicated shark fisherman. The last 3 days of fishing we started out with 12 rods out. By the time the sun is setting it's just me and Will. I'm proud of my bunch of fishermen, they have accomplished there dream by way of persistence and detection. Even with persistence and dedication, luck plays a big part in it all. Neither Neville nor Will ever said "iv come to catch a mako". They said they come to catch a fish. The mako's were just a big bonus almost too much to ask for. Today we fish like there's no tomorrow. Tomorrow we shall bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph and sail on the still breeze, and shine on!
