James jewfish-3/19/11

Me and red hooked up with James Michael Kyle and his girlfriend to fish the pass during the full moon. Started fishing around 4-4:30 however the trip was cut short after gettin kicked out by the national park people around 9. Michael narrowly missed beaching what appeared to be a nice jewfish and we had quite a few hooks pull, but James landed a solid 73" fish. (will post pics tonight)

who kicked you guys out? We were fishing to the right of you at boca .. we got crossed with james line at one point! We were there until 2 am.. we have night passes. If you guys have one they cant ask you to leave!

All we caught were jewfish all night.. we landed one and the rest of them kept chewing on our bait like squeeky toys! The sharks must have been having there own super moon party elsewhere!

got kicked out at 9 the next morning, apparently the night pass only covers one person (according to the park guy), and i'm the only one with one :| we had maybe 8 or so pick ups but it seemed to pickup after 3 and fish kept coming unhooked so it wasnt as good as i had expected... but theres always next weekend

ooh u must of talked to the mean ranger lol There is one who is just nasty!

Ive talked to at least 6 rangers up there and they all told us as long as we have the pass in the window and one car it doesnt matter how many people are in our car or how long we stay since we have the night pass .. the mean ranger told us if its more than one person we have to pay 3.00 to park still even if were all in one car.. Now I just give them my 3.00$ and put the pass in the window lol

i know the rangers name is jason he's a total $#%@ to me and my friends whenever we fish out there. he said today he'll take my pass away if he "catches me" with more people out there again. so im gonna see if we can pool together $60 and upgrade my pass to the family pass so i can have one vehicle and 8 people. too bad we didn't one of the nice rangers cus we would still be fishin

thats terrible! You live on the island too right? Im sure your parents pay A LOT in taxes just to live there! You should have your parents report him to a higher power bc thats not right that he treated you that way. He does not have the authority to take your pass away from you. I am pretty sure he cant even write tickets he's just a park employee.. i think the fancy uniform is getting to his head lol

We had a run in with him a few weeks back and he yelled at me bc we also have an individual pass. He was very rude and unprofessional . I was told by him if we just pay the 3.00 to park day or night then it wasnt a problem as long as were all in one car.

Yesterday another park employee who was collecting money at the gate told us we DO NOT have to pay 3.00 because we have the individual pass.. I just pay it anyway to avoid being harassed by the mean guy lol

I will look into this further and call them tomorrow to find out the exact facts about this. Stand your ground as a fisherman your not doing anything wrong.

File a complaint on him, I just did! As far as I was told the annual pass only applies to parking fees. The night pass is a whole other thing. When I bought mine I was told that I was allowed two guests with both. After running into that genius he tried to give me a talking to and chased me through the parking lot to do it. We arent the only ones who have had issues with this guy. Im also going to call and complain tomorrow when they open. I want a copy of the actual rules in writing too, for some reason none of that info is on the website. He's just an employee, hes not law enforcement in any way shape or form, dont let him fool you. The last one we talked to told us they didnt even have the authority to write a parking ticket, or force anyone to do anything they have to call the police just like you if theres a problem.

Nice fish guys. Why don't you guys fish away from the park down by one of the streets. We never had a problem fishing away from the park and there is alot less current and once you hook the elusive Giant Hammer we're all looking for fighting it will be much nicer and boat free the further away you fish from the bend/deep water/current/jewfish hangout.Just something to think about but I don't live on your coast and I don't know if the cops have recently started kicking you guys off the side streets beach access lots .I really hate to see when the authorities or rangers, cops or even FWC starts harrassing the young guys that are just trying to fish and enjoy the great outdoors. This is the main reason we have to leave the beaches super clean when we leave(no shark bait in the beach or left on the sand),be as respectful as possible to other beachgoers, not get wild and rowdy ,not play loud music late at night that might bother the neighbors. Our sport is constantly under attack so we defenitly don't need negative attention but we should smart enough to avert all possible problems to insure that we can continue to fish a hot spot beach such as the one you guys have there.Good luck and keep on Catchin them Monsters!!

I personally fish there because its a short walk, and short drops. The FWC guys have all been cool, they usually hang out and talk to us for atleast a half hour. It's just that one idiot the rest of the employees usually stop to say hi before they close up for the night. Hopefully with enough complaints they'll do something about his attitude problem. I would've just laughed at him if he initially started with me, but he decided he was going to get mouthy with my wife which is NOT OK with me! Next time Im gonna tell him to take a walk, and hopefully it ends there, it seems he just gets off on bullying people.
