FS: Duel 6/0 with custom calstar
I have a Duel 6/0 in teflon black paired with a custom calstar for sale....this was the little brother to my other setup I sold...the 12/0W
The Duel 6/0 is a powerful little reel. The reel is lighter and smaller than a conventional 50-sized reel, but has the same capacity as a 50. Currently, I have 700 yds of JerryBrown 100lb hollow spectra on their, and some old Hi-Seas 80lb mono. If you strip off the mono, you will be able to fit about 140 yds of 100lb mono topshot (I used momoi diamond). The reel is in the teflon black finish, which is the toughest finish out there of any big game reel. It does not scratch and tarnish as easily as the gold finish. The reel is capable of 50+ lbs of drag, so it has the capacity and drag to land true monsters. Also, the duel has the infamous 2-way, 2-speed system...reel forward and it is a super fast 3.4 gear ratio...reel backwards and you have a 1.4 gear ratio. The gearbox is also housed in oil, so it is well protected and will rarely need servicing. The reel does show considerable cosmetic wear. I am not the original owner, and when I received the reel is showed some pitting and scratches on the frame (seen in pics) and the owner had his initials and a serial number etched into the frame under the gearbox (pics). I completely stripped, cleaned, and serviced the reel after receiving it, and did so twice a year over the two years I owned the reel. Mechanically, the reel is 10/10. Cosmetically because of the blems, pitting, and engraving, I'd say it is a 6/10. However, I completely washed, stripped, and protected the frame so the pitting has stopped. The reel has accrued no more cosmetic blems in the past two years. Brand new, this reel retails for $1400.
pardon the dust in the pics. the reel has been sitting in my closet all year and i havent had the chance to wipe it down

Paired with it is a custom built Calstar grafighter 50-130. It is cut down to 5'6", has beautiful black chevron wraps, Winthrop rollers and tip, tough composite cork foregrip, and an Aftco unibutt with rubber "sharkskin" to protect the unibutt from scratching. It was built by Ron at Barbar back in the day. Rod is about an 9/10 cosmetically, with no major flaws or scratches. The rod is cut down so it has a progressive curve, but still packs a lot of power with a crisp shut-off. You won't find no better rod for fighting big fish out there. The rod itself is super light, much lighter than the glass blanks most manufacturers use. It goes perfectly with the 6/0 for a lightweight setup that can and will land monsters. The winthrop rollers on the rod will not foul with sand/salt, and are worth $250 alone. The rod brand new cost $700.
Besides the cosmetic damage on the reel, everything else is in perfect working order. This is the perfect light setup for tackling large sharks. You will not find any better combo. I could fish this combo all day long with no fatigue.
I am asking $650+shipping for the combo. Shipping in the continental US will be about $20, give or take a few dollars. Reel comes with pouch, bag, lugs, and allen keys. The reason for the low price is because of the cosmetic damage to the reel.
