East Coast Fin Addicts

Angler: Ashley Cortellesso
Species: Manta Ray

The manta was caught on an 80 lb test. After 50 minutes of fighting when we realized what had been hooked, we were concerned with releasing it safely into the water, which it was, and forgot to measure and take proper pictures. So it may not count but we thought it was worthy enough to be shown

FIRST WEEKS LEADERBOARD

First Week's Leaderboard includes Team totals and Biggest sharks caught of each species so far. We are excited to see so many Teams making such fine catches and working so hard to take the lead .Many have been going days with hardly any sleep to catch that monster shark that may be the winning fish. The catches made in the first week of fishing in the Big Hammer Challenge Shark Tournament have been larger than in any other BHC of previous years. We are proud to see fishermen in the new states opened to the tournament catching species that have been rare in previous BHC tournaments such as large sand tigers. We have first time Teams that have been racking up some fine catches also. As you all know on the very first day of competition the bar was set high once again by Team "Hammer Wranglers" the Three time Champs from Florida's west coast with a 13 foot 2 inch Hammerhead shark so this has been the strongest start to the BHC due sizes and the variety of large sharks caught already .

DEADLINE FOR BHC REGISTRATION

Deadline to Register a Team to fish in the Big Hammer Challenge is Wednesday April 22,2015. Deadline to add a new member to your Team is also Wednesday April 22,2015.This Thursday we announce the total number of Teams competing in the 2015 BHC .Up to this point we have 44 or 45 PAID Teams but we are hoping to Register a couple more before the deadline.

DISRUPTING THE TOURNAMENT -STARTING TROUBLE-NAME CALLING -BASHING-STARTING RUMORS
I want to remind all anglers fishing the Big Hammer Challenge to please conduct themselves with respect for other tournament anglers, and towards the sport that this tournament represents(land-based shark fishing). We should stride to uphold the sport as we are being watched by many who will have an opinion of us according to how we behave during the 30 days of competition. We would like to inform all fishermen in the BHC that what we monitor what goes on Facebook and other sites and we want to warn anyone who is hell bent on disrupting this tournament for no good reason ;that WE WILL DISQUALIFY ANY PARTICIPANT DEEMED TO BE A NUISANCE OR TROUBLEMAKER. Unfounded claims of cheating or harassing other anglers on Facebook will be dealt with.If you have a legitimate complaint, please call me I am the tournament director and will deal with all allegations of cheating or attempts to cheat. If you have the evidence or proof of cheating PLEASE file a FORMAL COMPLAINT ,it is in the BHC RULES and a Tournament Committee has been set up to deal with this sort of thing.

STRETCHING OF THE SHARKS TAIL

We have observed that some participants in this tournament have been attempting to gain an advantage by stretching the sharks tail to gain some inches in Overall Length. This will end right here -I PERSONALLY WILL DISQUALIFY WHOMEVER I SEE STRETCHING A SHARKS TAIL FOR THE SAKE OF MAKING IT SEEM LARGER THEN IT IS.SOME HAVE BEEN WARNED and are AWARE of there MISTAKES and SOME ARE ALREADY IN HOT WATER AND DON'T EVEN KNOW IT :o :o .IT ENDS HERE !!!-----THE HEADHUNTER IS OUT AND ABOUT SO DON'T DO IT :geek: :geek: --FAIR WARNING

GOOD LUCK TO ALL-CATCH A MONSTER!!!

Captains Comments- After reviewing the pics the shark measured at 8'-6" I Subtracted a total of 6" for what appears of the Tail being stretched but this little hammer was green all thru the pics it was hard to hold him down i've never seen a shark with so much energy usually they swim out slow not this little hammer it took off like a rocket.

Angler- Jesus Lluis

Shark Species- Hammerhead
