For us South Florida Shark fisherman 60 degrees is nearly unbearable , Well try kayaking out baits at night in 49 degree
weather than returning to your sleeping bag or w.e make shift sleeping area we had to spend the rest of your night
cold and kind of miserable. Now let your imagination wander into the shoes of The Old Man!!! JD Hammer !!! Old Boy!!! The heart and
Soul of Hammer and the Phenoms and were our name was created by me 9 years ago. Me i am 29 years young and i awoke every morning of the tournament with a cramped back, stiff neck and bad reminiscences of the freezing cold nights i had just endured, imagine The old hammer roughing it out 30 sum years older than me!!!!! Through the bad weather, Big surf, arguments among team-mates in the heat of the moment and other Curve balls this Hard Core tournament threw at us, old man Hammer and I stood stood tall and prevailed!!! WE landed an 8 foot 7 inch 400 something pound Bull Shark and soared to the top of the leader board for another top 3 finish amongst fierce competition from hundreds of the best competitors in the sport of shark fishing.We also managed 3rd Place Most Sharks with a total of seven caught during the three days of competition.
The days go by, years pass, and new faces come and go -we've seen so many FALL OFF, but The old Man Hammer remains the face of our team , and until the day he's no longer able to do it anymore, ill be right beside him fishing like i started as a young boy!!! Thank you to my team-mates for the time being JD Fagan, Jonatan Serrano, and Kelli Saunders. Hammer and i couldn't have done it without you guys. That's a tri-fecta for the Last 3 Black Tip Challenges 2013 -1 st Place Overall,2014 -3rd Place Overall,and 2015- 2nd place Overall,not too shabby. WE will be resurrecting two old team-mates for the Big Hammer Challenge Two men who may have some rust but are two of the best Shark Fisherman i know . Jimmy Dean Fuqua and Joseph Fuqua aka 'Joe Boy' (recognize that last name?) Groomed and trained by the best; JD Hammers two sons will be back in the fold and the Original 4 Hammer and the Phenoms will try there best to Represent for the SFSC in this years best ever Big Hammer Challenge!!

A big CONGRATULATIONS on Another victory for Team "Hammer and the Phenoms" in the 2015 Blacktip Challenge shark Tournament.These guys better than any other Team from the SFSC have dominated the Blacktip Challenge in the last several years.Through all the years that we have been shark fishing together it has been a great pride to have the core of the club in a man such as Jd Hammer who has taken so many under his wing and taught so many the sport .We've seen shark fishermen come ,and we have seen shark fishermen go, BUT always there is the old man "Jimbo"Jd Hammer"Ole boy" JD" whatever you wanna call him he won't get mad he'll just say "let's go fishing partner" and a smile comes over his face. Im the record Keeper/Historian/Website Administrator/BHC Representative,Jd Hammer is the Consistent Fishermen/Teacher/,Rene de Dios was the Passion of the shark club,Shannon Bustamante represents the middle ground ,the level head ,the future of the SFSC when Jd Hammer and I are gone . In all the years as a representative of our shark club I have seen so many young shark fishermen start as adolescents and become men while learning the sport from the elders.Some are grateful for what they learn and respect and yet others get big headed with pride-we sit back and watch them blow up while we continue to do what we have been doing for so many decades.Some are still with us others have gone off to create there lives with wives and children and homes to support.Our hopes are that through all the trials and tribulations that come with the passage of time that we can continue to attract the sincere ,real passionate,real hardcore shark fishermen who endure the ups and downs and refuse to wither away and who honor the SFSC and all it represents.Congratulations to all the members of Team Hammer and the Phenoms.
