Anclote pier Sat Jun 2 (no pics)
I decided I needed to get fishing as I haven't shark fished really since the BHC. So, I went out around 10pm and finished loading my topshot of mono on my 14 everol (over top of 600yds of 300lb jb hollow) and rigged up a 2 ft frozen bonnet for bait. A buddy got the shark on his boat and it died on release so he kept it for me for bait, thus why I used it frozen. Then I rigged a 3lb mudray on my 4/0 everol which didnt get touched all night.
A buddy of mine rigged up a 12/0 senator with a big live mullet and yakked him out about 250 yds and before he got done yakking it took off. I set the hook for him while he ran down the pier and right before I could give it to him (felt like a 4-6 fter) his crappy "fishermans" knot came undone. Guess it was a good lesson learned for him on a smaller shark.
Then after sitting until about 4am when the tide was getting low, I started to get ready to pack up and the 14 everol started to run slow, after a minute or so he picked up speed and I harnessed up. Did a decent running man on the pier and nothing. When I reeled it in he missed both hooks and cut the bait in half, teeth marks looked like a lemon (which are really common for us).
Not a great trip with results but it was nice to get out for a night of fishing since the BHC. Next time pics and hopefully a few sharks landed.
