JANUARY 2013 SHARKER OF THE MONTH ERNIE POLK

"Hello out there. We scored a good one. A nice 8'9" mako by me. A pretty good story I'd say. I was running baits with ORCA and spotted the shark on top a 100yds out. A few minutes later I looked and here it is almost to the pier on the east side. I grabed my 80w and bait but it was gone before I could get my bait on it. I kept running baits and as usual I had atleast 8 baits to run and mine goes last. Was almost done and I saw the shark again. This time it was on the bottom headed straight to the pier. I quietly set the controller down and headed to my 80w which was already ready. The shark turned to the east and I threw the Bonita as hard as I could. It landed a bit short but the shark seen it and headed towards it. As the bait sank the shark circled it to the bottom and turned away and headed south. I jerked the bait a couple times and the shark spun around and headed toward the bait. I jerked a coule more times and it jumped on it. The shark turned up on it's belly with the Bonita tail in it's mouth and worked it around head first and down it went. I let it get a bit away from the pier and set the hook. I was expecting a burning run but it just Layed there shaking around on top. It never left. It walked me about half way to the beach 3 times. Fought like a Cobia. I could have leadered the fish at any time but I was scared to try to rope it green. It finally tryed to go under so I was forced to leader and rope it. It shook the rope off the first time and got one fin in the rope with a figure 8 around it's head. I wasn't sure if it would be enough to deck the shark so I put a second rope on it. In just a minute it was flopping on the deck. The video was done by Orrin Johnson. Head roped by Ben Fletcher. Leadered by me and Bill Dunlop(Fire Dog). Uncle Bob, Adam, and Bryant along with a few more."

Jonathan Serrano started shark fishing on the Lake Worth pier with the likes of Cuban Eddie and Timmy t and now his home is in Miami and he fishes with other close by SFSC members who are like minded in there passion for shark fishing and those relationships have elevated his catches with sharks like the one below the largest caught during the month March 2013.Congratulations Jonathan.

"headed to palm beach last Monday with jonathan and took out two rods one with a whole bonita and one with a whole cuda. the baits soaked for about four hours until I see jonathans rod tip bounce funny a I tell him look bro , than nothing happened for a second and then the rod started to bend over slowly and out goes a steady run. he was letting the shark eat but then it stoped, I thought maybe It droped the bait but it started running in on him. he soon caught up to the shark and then did the running man. HOOKED UP SOLID AND WAS TAKING SOME GOOD DRAG! YEAH WE WERE PUMPED! after a good fight jonathan brought in a veary nice looking 9ft hammer. took a few pics and got a fast release!!!"

APRIL 2013 SFSC SHARKER OF THE MONTH--RAYMUNDO MUNIZ

Raymundo Muniz has become one of the top shark fishermen in the SFSC .In the last several years he has caught quite a few big hammers and during this year's Big Hammer Challenge his angling skills helped him catch the Third Place Biggest Shark award .Congratulations to Raymundo .

thanks guys but i could not be where i am today without the help of this shark club. when i started shark fishing i was using grunts and snappers as bait then i found out about this club and the rest is history. our first year fishing the tournament we fished a lot with will. he showed us a lot of do and dont he even show me the perfect way of screaming at somebody lolol another person who showed me a lot is shannon,he is one of the best shark fisherman in the game now. the way he instructed me how to fight the hammer on long key was perfect he knew every step.
